Zanzi Resort

Zanzi Resort sits on the edge of the Indian Ocean, 15 km from the historic Stone Town and 30 minutes from the airport. Thirteen spacious, artistically designed villas and bungalows offer an intimate environment with patios, some featuring private pools. The resort, spread over six hectares of plush tropical gardens, has an excellent in-house restaurant and treatment area, offering oceanside massages and the Japanese hot-stone treatment, gambanyoku. Local cuisine is prepared for an international palate with fresh seafood, organic vegetables, and spices from our own eco-plantation. Guests can dine in the restaurant, in the privacy of their villa or bungalow, or on the beach. A guest relations attaché is available to help plan day trips and excursions.

Capacity building.

We constantly engage trainees through the collaboration with Zanzibar Commissions of Tourism. We build their capacity in different areas, support their growth and help with the consecutive employment. We conduct regular trainings and workshops for our own employees, constantly enhancing their expertise across all our departments.

Steps from recycled materials

Eco Act uses chemical free and energy conserving plastic extrusion technology called "Waxy ıı Technology" to recycle and transform post-consumer waste plastics, packaging materials and agricultural waste into durable and environmentally friendly plastic lumbers, which we used for building jetty steps and path railings. By using these materials instead of wood we help to fight deforestation and pollution.

Chako - recycling glass

We have been collaborating with number of vendors that provide sustainable solutions for the waste management and recycling including CHAKO, specialized in glass recycling. We just installed lamps from recycled bottles.

Free Russian Classes

Our own General Manager is contributing her teaching skills through the Russian Language courses for local tour guides.

Research

We embrace science. Our General Manager, Ekaterina Kalashnikova, biologist and a marine mammals’ researcher has been conducting humpback whales monitoring and research around Zanzibar for the last few years. She writes for Jahazi and Paa Magazines on whale watching opportunities in Tanzania, gives talks and does presentations on marine mammals’ ecology, threats that they’re facing globally and in Tanzania particularly, and conservation efforts. We can’t wait to embark soon on the systematic surveys of our own residential humpback dolphins. Our guests have a unique opportunity to observe these rare animals from our famous pier every sunset without disturbing them – the best dolphin tour ever!

Waste Management Workshops

Ekaterina Kalashnikova, our own General Manager is keeping abreast of waste management solutions by participating in a wonderful series of the workshops dedicated to waste management, marine conservation and sustainable seafood sourcing, professionally organized and hosted by Chumbe Island Coral Park. We’re excited to learn about new initiatives and are trying to be part of the fight for cleaner Zanzibar.

Community Farming

We’re providing land for farmers from neighboring villages, so that they could use our fertile soils and water to grow crop, which is then shared in between our own kitchen and the community.

Dhow Countries Music Academy

In collaboration with the Russian Tanzanian Cultural Center ZanziResort has proudly hosted outstandingly talented Michail Kandaurov who has been eliciting mesmerizing harmony of sounds from only three (but absolutely magical) strings of balalaika. Musical souls merged, Balalaika and Qanun (traditional African stringed instrument) blended in mesmerising unison. $500 has been raised by the concert and been donated to the Dhow Countries Music Academy (DCMA), which enabled musical tuition fees for many local students.

Shanga

We buy glass from Shanga, who is a successful social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique, handmade glassware incorporating recycled materials. Profits being reinvested back into developing opportunities to employ more people with disabilities.

Sharing water

Sharing is caring. Because water is still not available to all, we share ours with local villages around the resort.

Kama School

Helping to renovate the local school because we believe in investing in our future.

PET recycling OZTI

Discussing possibilities of delivering the resort's PET empty containers to OZTI for recycling into amazing utility items.

Supporting local fisherman by buying locally fresh fish from directly in front of the resort.

We are buying our woven items such as baskets, mats, food covers from an amazing man, who is a grandfather, who still support his family despite his blindness.

Mural

We believe education is key to preserving our planet, which is why we sponsored the mural showing the decomposition timeline of everyday products to the Kama School.
